PLACEMENT OF REFUSE

Recyclables must be placed curbside by 7:00 am on your regular garbage day.  No refuse may be placed at street curb line earlier than 2:00 pm on the day before scheduled pickup.

 

GARBAGE PACKAGING

All domestic garbage must be placed in tied, durable plastic bags or in watertight metal or plastic containers with handles.  They must not exceed a volume of 40 gallons or weigh in excess of 50 pounds each.  A maximum of 5 containers per residence, per week is permitted.  No medical waste is accepted.  Cardboard boxes may not be used as containers.

 

FRIDAY EXCESSIVE GARBAGE PICKUP - Call 673-8262 to get on list

A $15.00 SOLID WASTE STICKER is required for each unit of non-typical bulky refuse (furniture, carpeting/padding, mattress/box spring, etc…)  An additional $15.00 SOLID WASTE STICKER is required if you go over the 5 containers per week limit.  The fee is payable at the City Cashier in City Hall, 109 North Main Street.  Remodeling refuse must be disposed of privately.  Wood pieces will only be picked up if they are no longer than 4 feet and weigh no more than 50 pounds per bundle.  Each bundle requires a SOLID WASTE STICKERCall to schedule a FRIDAY pickup before 4:20 pm on Thursday.

STICKERS CANNOT BE USED FOR APPLIANCES!

 

CURBSIDE PICKUP OF APPLIANCES requires a pre-paid $15 fee which is payable at the City Hall Cashier.  Please contact the DPW Office at 673-8260 to schedule pickup.

 

OLD TV'S AND COMPUTER COMPONENTS can be disposed of by donating them to Goodwill Industries. Follow this link for more information.

REMODELING REFUSE PAINT CANS
Remodeling refuse must be disposed of privately.  Wood pieces can only be picked up on FRIDAYS if the pieces are no longer than 4 feet and weigh no more than 50 lbs. per bundle.  Call 673-8262 to schedule a FRIDAY PICKUP with a SOLID WASTE STICKER. Latex and small amount of oil-based paint can be disposed of by drying them out with an open lid or pouring out paint in layers on newspaper, cardboard or kitty litter.  Throw dried paint cans and dried material in garbage containers.  Aerosol paint cans are HAZARDOUS WASTE.
 

WEST BEND TRANSFER LOCATION

Residents may dispose of a truckload of garbage by hauling it to the Veolia garbage transfer location - 803 N. River Road, West Bend.  Charges are based on weight.
